HearteningTwo weeks ago I made an "urgent call" for our readers to send in donations to compensate for the dearth during July and August. Last week's post was a little above average, but not nearly enough to make up the shortfall. However, it seems that I was hasty in jumping to the conclusion that my cry had been ignored. No sooner had last month's fund closed than we received a bundle of gifts - many of them responding to my appeal for a last-minute effort to reach the August £400 target. As a result our September fund now stands at a very healthy £185. Special thanks go to PK for a splendid £50, and mention must also be made of that father-and-son combination, DG and DG (£25 each), along with CM (£25) and PM (£20). Thanks also to CM, RT and FF (£10 each). All this is most heartening. I now fully expect that we will be able to make up the £163 summer deficit in September alone. Don't disappoint me, comrades!
