Wry humour

What an unusual compliment I got this week. Comrade OG writes: “Your own fighting fund ‘square’ is the first thing I turn to - I appreciate your low-key approach and wry humour.”

Wow! Perhaps I’ll make the features pages yet. Alongside our comrade Lawrie Coombs, who also comes in for some kind words for his ‘Campaign diary’. “A very refreshing read,” comments OG. “Hope he continues to contribute to the Weekly Worker on a regular basis.”

But, like so many of our readers, OG doesn’t stop at showering me and Lawrie with praise. She didn’t forget to enclose a nice little cheque. Thanks, comrade. Thanks also to all those who helped make our June fund the best for some time. The total of £585 not only shot over our monthly target of £450. It all but wiped out the £150 shortfall built up over the first part of the year.

Congratulations to everybody for doing their bit - especially TK, BK, LP, DF and MD for their more than useful gifts.
