Who’s who?
After our excellent achievement in June, July’s fund has got off to a
slow start.
But I did receive a very welcome cheque for £40 from comrade LT, who
tells me he was moved to donate to the Weekly Worker after reading
about the estate of the late Donald Dewar, the former Edinburgh first
minister.
LT points out that £2 million is hardly a fortune in comparison to the
“robber barons of big business”, but half of it was made up in investments
in companies which read like a Who’s who of British capitalism.
Dewar certainly knew where his interests lay.
And so does LT, who writes: “A bit less than ‘comrade’ Dewar could manage,
I’m afraid, but it all helps.” It certainly does, comrade, and the same
applies to the donations sent in by CM, HT, KF and PS. Thanks to them,
our July total stands at £77 - some way off our monthly target of £450
though.
