Top priority

After the disappointment of August, September has seen a more encouraging start. We now have £184, thanks to donations totalling £123 over the last seven days.

Pride of place goes to TR for his £30 gift. The comrade is four-square behind the Weekly Worker and its campaign for a Socialist Alliance party. However, he regrets the “lack of response from the other groups towards a common paper of the SA”. This is echoed by MD, who sends us £10: “Let’s hope the SA becomes a real party soon, with its own paper, hopefully as good as the Weekly Worker.”

They are absolutely right, of course, not to see any problem in fighting for both an improved Weekly Worker and, alongside this, a publication of the alliance as a whole. We are certainly looking forward to the day when the SA components will have no need of their separate, rival journals. But until then the paper that continually strives to make that outcome a reality must remain at the top of our priorities.

Thanks also this week to comrades TG, JK, FD, MD and PL.
