Careless!

Owing to a technical error, my column was inadvertently omitted from last week’s paper. And just when I was celebrating our success in smashing through our £500 target for September.

We didn’t quite make the £750 I was hoping for, but our total of £730 for the month came pretty close. It included a very late contribution to our Summer Offensive from PG, who tells us he suddenly came across a cheque he wrote two months ago and then mislaid. Careless again! But never mind the lateness, comrade - we won’t refuse your £75 donation.

October has also started off quite promisingly, with £110 already received. Pride of place amongst the contributions goes to comrade TR, for his usual monthly cheque, which included a £50 donation. Thanks also to AD and GK (both £20) and to SS and PH (£10 each).

After all this good news, I’m sure you’ll forgive me my usual moan: not one donation via our website yet again. Quite baffling really - we had 14,630 online readers last week (14,461 the week before), including 1,884 who downloaded the whole paper. But not one of them made use of our PayPal facility.

This is one area where we really must do better.
