Fighting Fund

On a shoestring

Use the button, suggests Robbie Rix

The weekly visits to our website - the vast majority of them by readers of our paper - seem to have settled at around the 12,000 mark (there were exactly 11,770 over the last seven days).

But this news brings with it that perennial complaint of mine - very few of those readers think to hit the ‘Make a donation’ button. In fact no-one at all did so last week. This is a pity, because I know that - while, of course, a proportion are hostile to our politics, but feel obliged to read us nevertheless - an increasing number are accepting, at least in theory, our main message: the need for a single, genuinely democratic-centralist, revolutionary party.

That is where the ‘in theory’ comes in. Winning these comrades to do something about it in practice is a very long and patient job. I have to say, though, that the numbers of Weekly Worker sympathisers who help us out financially is continuing to grow - albeit not so quickly as we would like.

This is mainly reflected in those who have taken out a monthly standing order - their contributions regularly make up well over half of our £1,000 fighting fund. Over the last week alone they accounted for £180. Amongst them were £40 from SM, £30 from CG, £25 from DB and £20 from SD.

In addition there were two cheques in the post - thank you, comrades HG and CL (£20 each). We have reached £360 already and we are still at the beginning of the month. But we cannot afford to relax. Production of our paper is run on a shoestring and each and every pound donated is well spent.

Please help us out if you can. Download a standing order form - or even click you know where.
